How I Got My New Name (#3)

Well, I have been known to go by the names of Abigail, Abbey, Princess, and Mouth....but I find that I don't like those quite as much as my new name. You see, this last weekend I went to Oklahoma to help with mission program for inter-city kids. We went to an apt. complex and rounded the kids and took them to the community center for a few sports clinics. We sang songs with them, fed them hamburgers, and gave them prizes for talent and good behavior. I really feel like we did some good and got to have fun. Anyway the night before my group had been playing jeopard and I was sitting next to Andy and thinking you know, I'm tired of being called Abbey all the time and I think I am ready for something different....hmmm....how about ______. So I did I told people to call me _______. It was totally cool being called by something that wasn't my real name. So when I got back I started telling people to call me _______ as well. It hasn't taken as well as I had hoped but oh well. I guess that's all for now so I'll cya later avid readers!

Well it HAS been forever and a day...

My apologies for keeping my ones of fans in the dark about my life for the last few days...weeks...months...Well anyway all I'm sayin is I'm sorry bout that.

So, an update is in order! Here are the top 10 things that have gone on in my life this year.
  1. My band repertoire has grown exceedingly with my attendance of various band functions and such. The grueling and sometimes freezing days of marching season rewarded us with six trophies, Yay! And now during concert season we took the band to District (the highest level) contest and we got ones straight across the board...this means we played well for the judges and we did well in sight reading. Two of those ones were even 1+'s. So that was pretty much awesome. I also took a flute solo and got a 2+ as a well as a woodwind trio which received a 1 and a piano solo which also received a 1+. I'm goin' to State babe!
  2. My choir repertoire has also grown as well. At the beginning of the year I made District Choir, which as a freshman is great! However in Missouri you can't try out for State as a freshman so that's kind of a let down but oh well. Recently I went to contest with an ensemble and two solos and I received ones with those as well so I do get to go to State for that. Hard to believe that I'm doin' so well for a freshman isn't it?
  3. My friends and I have went through trials in our friendship but I'm afraid I don't feel the need to elaborate further.
  4. I became my FCCLA chapter's Public Relations officer for the 07-08 school year.
  5. My Jr. Parli. Pro. team got gold at district contest so went to state contest. We got a gold at state contest so....WE are going to C-a-l-i-f-o-r-n-i-a! Uh-huh uh-huh uh-huh!
  6. I went to Vegas and married the one and only Elvis Presley....jk! I watched as my baby sister learned the most eloquent of phrases, "Yo dude!" and as I taught her to actually pose on command.
  7. I started reading my Bible more often.
  8. I'm going to Aquire the Fire for the first time ever.
  9. I've read many many many new books this year.
  10. I made a new friend.
So there, now you can maybe not my top 10, but definitely 10 things that happened to me this year. Comment if you want, though honestly I don't have high hopes that anyone will seeing as no one much did before. Ah well.

Summer is O-V-E-R!

That's right people...my beloved summer is gone! "It makes me want to cry" This summer I went to music camp and I met to wonderful girls there who are now my good friends. I got to earn money babysitting. I got to go to Branson (Silver Dollar City-Celebration City-White Water) with some other good friends of mine. I got to go to Hannibal, MO-the hometown of Mark Twain a.k.a. Samuel Clemens. I also got to sleep in almost every day and just be lazy. Oh yeah, I went to Nashville with my Parli Pro team and got a gold at National FCCLA. So yeah, I had a pretty good summer.

The weekend before last my family decided to take a break from living and go to Hannibal, MO. We got to see the Mark Twain cave that he wrote about in his nove The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. We got to see his boyhood home. We got to see the home of the girl who was his inspiration for Becky Thatcher. We got to ride up and down the Mississippi River in the Mark Twain "steam" boat. We got to eat at 3 REALLY GOOD restaraunts. And we got to stay in cool hotel. I got a pretty new pair of earrings as my "souvenir". I got to see Lovers Leap. I got to spend fun times with the family. All in all, a very good weekend.

School started today and already I wish it was over! The presentation was okay, but the gym was stifling. The speaker had a good message but I was just ready to get out of they gym by the time he was done. Then we had our class meeting and that was boring. Then I went to Alebra 1 with one of my best friends. Then we had lunch and, as usual, the food was NASTY! Finally, I made it to American History and when the clock hit 1, I was out of there. Now I'm home with all my intstruments practiced and ready to relax...until 6:45 when I and the rest of FCCLA get to babysit for parents children attending the school barbeque. Fun! Fun! Fun!

...Or maybe I'll go practice a musical...hmmmm...decisions, decisions.

Well, that's all for now!

End-of-Summer FUN!!!

Well, yesterday was definitly one of the best all year. After getting to sleep in later than I should have, I got to eat pizza (ok so it was left over but who cares, it's pizza) and I didn't have to babysit. That night I had (got) to go to our youth groups annual back to school pool party. We also rent the pool in a town about thirty minutes away from us. I'm telling you this is a city pool like no other and I always have a blast at these church parties anyway so the pool is definitly an added bonus!!!! I got to go with my BFF Kate and Nikki. We had soooo much fun. I can't wait till next year. Well I'll blog to you guys later...cya.

AUGUST is HERE!

Uh-huh! That's right my people....August is here. August is possibly one of the most hated and most anticipated months of the year. Not only is it the last month of summer and probably one of the hottest months of the year, it is also the month of which my school ALWAYS starts. Am I excited? Yes and no. I like the first day of school and the day before and morning of, I always have butterflies in my stomach on account my wondering if things will have changed, what will everyone think of me, did I choose the right outfit, is my makeup smeared, has my hair taken a life of its since the last time I checked? First Day Jitters. This year however will be different. Sure I will definitly still have butterflies. What is different is that this year I have friends. Tried and True friends who already know me, my faults, and my personality. Last year I had "friends" but this year I have sisters. I expect good things for this year. The only downside is that my locker( since everything HAS to be in alphabetical order) won't be anywhere near my two best gals. Their last names are both M's and mine is quite a ways down the road from M. I hope that my schedule is similar to ONE of theirs. Last year...I was in one class with them and they were together in about 4 of the 10 classes we had last year. I am hoping for better results this year. I will admit...I love shopping for school supplies. I like to decorate my locker which I am doing this year with my name. My mom got me some magnets that spell out the name A-B-B-E-Y. Pretty fun huh? Well that's about all I have to say for now. Bye guys.

Monday Moods

Today I had to go to a doctors appointment, to have my thyroid checked....fun ":D". Since where I live doesn't have a hospital we have to travel to a city about an hour away. Okay so we finally got there and we ended up waiting for another 10 minutes, which is actually a pretty good wait for a pediatricians office. Then we got in there and I was told I am chubby...not really--but that is what it SOUNDED like he said. Then we had to go to another part of the hospital so they could spill my guts all over the place for a blood sample...acutally it was like a shot--but I hate shots so that why I'm being all dramatic about it. We finally got to go home...after stopping at Lowes, Target, Walmart, Movie Gallery, and Mudders & Potters. Quite a short trip....not. Then we stopped at Breadeaux for pizza and we are finallllllllly home. I have now eaten and my energy is back. One good thing was that while we were waiting the hospital gave us free milk and cookies....YAYYYY! So now I'm blogging to you guys in hopes that you find what I have to write is worth the trouble of reading.

Here's a quote: "God made Adam and Eve...not Adam and Steve." End of quote....no idea who said it though...pretty cool huh???

Well cya'll

Sunday Singin'

Today is Sunday---why is our day of worship named after the sun???? Beats me...it just is. Today I went to my church where Daddy is the pastor. I wore my white skirt and blue tanks and a white eyelet jacket. It was fun. Sunday School was pretty good. Church service was better. Except of course for the fact that about 3/4 of our choir was gone and all that was left was 4 guys so mom decided to sit with us for the worship service. After church, Tru- and I stayed home instead of going to Mickey Ds with the rest of the family and some adult-and-4-young-kids-family friends of ours. We ate Mac n Cheese. Then I went to the DaVinci Code is false bible study and waited for my discipleship leader to finally show up. My youngest brother conveniently forgot to tell me she would have to reschedule. As a result I missed most of the evening service. Ah well...
Well that is pretty much it.
Cya'll later
Luv ya,
abbey
